Plant fiber
Plant fiber pads (coir, seagrass, sisal, and hemp fibers) are generally firmer and perfect as the core layers in compound mattresses or first layers on wire or pocket springs. When vulcanized, they become softer and more flexible. As such, they are suitable for layering in beds and furnishings with delicate fabrics.
Plant fiber pads provide good ventilation and give the necessary support to the body, preventing it from sinking too deep into the soft layers.
Some plant fiber pads, such as hemp and flax pads, are more delicate and offer similar properties as animal hair.
